We're pretty serious music lovers here at grown and sewn.
So much so in-fact, that the motor on our Pro-Ject turntable just crapped out last week because it's been spinning almost non stop for at least 4 years.
People who come by the store always picked through the stores music collection thinking the records were for sale, but always to their dismay we had to tell them that it was our music to listen to for the shop and that it wasn't for sale.
That was up until our friend Norman from Norman's Sound and Vision let me pick through his massive collection of used vinyl records and sell them out of the shop. I was also lucky enough to have a friend who made me a sweet record cabinet so people can actually shop them like a real record store.
Okay, now fast forward a few years. We've moved to Brooklyn and in the meantime bought a few decent sized record collections from people looking to liquidate and met a great guy who happens to be the founder of Matador Records that put me in-touch with his team to open up an account so that we could also start stocking new records from some of our favorite record labels. In case you weren't aware Matador is the US distributor for the Beggars Group which consists of Beggars Banquet, 4AD, Rough Trade, XL Recordings, Matador, and Young.
If you happen to be strolling down the beautiful, scenic Columbia Waterfront neighborhood in Brooklyn stop by and get digging.
For now just the new records are all for sale online here. But hopefully if we ever get around to it we might list some of the really cool pre-loved stuff up there as well so, keep en eye out!
