Our State-Side canvas represents what grown and sewn is all about. Simple, durable, and practical. 

We’ve spent countless hours putting our canvas pants and jackets through every manner of day-in and day-out work and activities and It has never let us down once. It’s the fabric we chose when we wanted the more, “jeans” attitude for our original hybrid pant and the version of the fabric we use for the pants undergoes a special dye process that allows the colors to whisker and just like raw denim.

8oz 100% cotton 3 ply twill.

Custom developed with Kurabo Mills, Japan. This is fabric our original prototypes and first pants were made from. The ultimate twill is more than just a clever name. When we set out produce pants that that took the best features of chinos and denim and marry them into something better than the sum of its parts, we knew we’d need a twill that offered the fit and feel of a traditional chino twill but also the durability and “wear-to-fit” characteristics of denim. The ultimate twill achieved this and has outdone even our best expectations. We’ve sold and shipped countless pairs of ultimate twill pants around the world and even some of the first pairs we ever sold are still being worn today.

8oz 100% cotton brushed canvas is the softer,lighterweight cousin to the State-Side canvas. 

Twelve ounce canvas can be intimidating; it takes some time  to break in and can be a bit heavy in the hotter months. So we knew we needed to develop pants in a lighter weight fabric for the folks who wanted to wear our foundations all year round. The softer hand feel, a result  of the brushing process and the weight of the material itself made it the perfect choice for a lighter weight pant with all the durability, and attitude of our 12oz foundation. A happy accident allowed the essential canvas to make an appearance on a mid-weight work shirt and since then has quickly become one of our favorite and best selling materials on every product that we put it to use on.

Developed in Britain in the 14th century Bedford cord has truly stood the test of time; but is surprisingly under-used in garments today. It’s comfortable, attractive, remarkably durable, and naturally wrinkle free.

We’ve used Bedford cord on everything from pants,shorts to jackets and even hats. Bedford cord has been a part of Grown and Sewn’s story for many years now and will continue to be used in an any application that calls for a slightly dressed up fabric with as much durability as a heavyweight canvas.
