STORY

Some stories write themselves. One afternoon in the shop, a family wandered in with two kids and a dog. Before long, our dogs were playing, and we were all sitting around talking like old friends. Hours went by before I learned they owned Apotheke—a Brooklyn-based candle company I’d been burning at home for years. Turns out, the candles I’d been lighting every night were made just a few blocks from our own studio.

And I cant even express how good it feels to find out that you've been unknowingly supporting such amazing people who's mere presence enriches your life.

This Charcoal Candle is the one that started it for me—clean, deep, and grounding. It’s a scent that fills a room without ever feeling heavy, built around notes of cedarwood, sandalwood, smoky charcoal, and a hint of amber.

PROCESS

Each candle is hand-poured in Brooklyn using a soy wax blend and cotton wicks for a slow, even burn. The blend of essential and fragrance oils is designed to balance warmth with clarity, making it just as good for an open studio as a quiet night at home. Every vessel is reusable—once the candle’s done, it makes a perfect catch-all for small tools or loose change.

SUSTAINABILITY

Apotheke produces all their candles in small batches in Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood, just a few blocks from our own workspace. Their process uses domestically sourced soy wax, recyclable packaging, and fragrance blends developed without parabens, phthalates, or animal testing. Local hands, local materials, lasting quality.
